Dealing Daunte?

The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly put Daunte Culpepper on the trading block. What's going to happen with the once-franchise quarterback of the fighting Norsemen? Why don't you tell me? You'll get 3 SG points for making a pick, and 7 more if you're right. If you guess "Other" and tell me the right team, you can pick up 5 more points. Here are the choices for Daunte's destination in 2006:

1. Minnesota
2. Baltimore
3. Oakland
4. Miami
5. Other

I expect Culpepper to land in Oakland. He struggled last year in his first season without Randy Moss, and I think he'd welcome a chance to rejoin Moss. Al Davis loves a good offensive attack, and I believe a chance to obtain one of the best quarterbacks in the league to lead the Raiders' offense will outweigh concerns about Culpepper's injuries from last year and his contract demands.

I think Baltimore SHOULD go after Culpepper...though they probably won't since they really seem to be stuck on Boller for some godawful reason.

Minnesota, QBs that good rarely get traded. Who's going to take over Culpeppers spot?

I can't see him getting traded. His health for next season is too big of a question mark for the Vikings to get anything worthwhile out of him. Brad Johnson had some success last year filling in, but you can't honestly believe that he's the long-term solution in Minnesota. Without Moss, they need someone who can win the game for them on offense- not just keep them from losing. The other consideration is that I think the Vikings pick for coach may signal that they want to try to stick with him. Childress worked with Donovan in Philadelphia- and helped him to cut down on his mistakes. If he can do the same with Culpepper, they should be in good shape. PS if he goes to Green Bay, I'm not eating anything with cheese in it for a month!

He'll stay in Minnesota. At the end of the day, a second round pick (what they are rumored to be asking for) just isn't enough for his talent. If Minny lets him go, it would be a big mistake

I just realized that I never actually made a pick here.

I'm going out on a limb and going with the Browns. Trent Dilfer is clearly not the answer to their short-term problems, and Charlie Frye just isn't ready. Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow and the rest of the Browns WRs could use a big time QB to really help them shine. It's really the last piece they need to put their offense together.

I think Culpepper is headed to Oakland to be reunited with "The Freak". When a chance to obtain one of the NFL's best quarterback presents its self…Al Davis wont just sit on the pot. - Something Millen should take note of…
